Vision
The global energy consumption is increasing rapidly in both the industrialized and the emerging countries.
To meet the growing demand, a combination of conventional and renewable energy generation must be applied.
The use of renewable energy sources is growing and many technologies are becoming mature and gradually meeting the point of parity, being economically competitive without any governmental or other form of subsidy. Such technologies includes wind-, solar, geothermal, tidal, wave-energy. New and continously optimized smartgrids supported by versatile metering systems, makes gradually renewable energy generation a realistic alternative to conventional sources.
Conventional energy capacity will be dominant in many decades to come, in spite of many political actions taken in favor of renewable solutions. To limit the rapidly increasing CO2, NOX, SOX, particulate and other harmful contaminants, focus must be made on production and distribution of sustainable fuels and reduction of emissions. Also the growing need of security in fuel supply, calls for urgent action.
Many renewable energy sources have low unit capacity and a increased decentralization is of decisive importance for reaching the goal of a sustainable energy-mix.
